Taher Elgamal (Arabic: طاهر الجمل) (born 18 August 1955) is an Egyptian cryptographer and entrepreneur. He has served as the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Security at Salesforce since 2013. Prior to that, he was the founder and CEO of Securify and the director of engineering at RSA Security.

Taher Elgamal is the Chief Technology Officer, Security at Salesforce and the "Father of SSL". He is a cryptographer and co-inventor of the SSL/TLS protocol, which enables secure communication between network computers. He also developed the Elgamal digital signature algorithm and the Elgamal encryption technique. He received the 2019 Marconi Prize for his contributions to the security of communications.

His 1985 paper " A Public key Cryptosystem and A Signature Scheme based on discrete Logarithms ” outlined the ideas that made secure ecommerce possible.
