Richard Colley Wellesley, 1st Marquess Wellesley, KG, KP, PC, PC (Ire) (20 June 1760 – 26 September 1842) was an Anglo-Irish politician and colonial administrator. He was styled as Viscount Wellesley until 1781, when he succeeded his father as 2nd Earl of Mornington .

Wellesley was a member of the Board of Control for India from 1793, and in 1797 was appointed as Governor-General of Bengal. In 1799 he was created Marquess Wellesley in the Irish peerage. He remained in India until 1805, and extended British control through various wars against Indian rulers.
