Spencer Perceval (1762-1812) was a British statesman and barrister who served as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 1809 until his assassination in 1812. He was a follower of William Pitt the Younger, opposed Catholic emancipation and reform of Parliament, and supported the war against Napoleon and the abolition of the slave trade.
