Há 4 dias · The historic entrance to the University of Manchester has been vandalised. Red paint was daubed on and around the archway on Oxford Road in a suspected pro-Palestinian protest. The location appears to have been chosen to have most impact as it is the way in to the oldest part of the Univesrity - the Old Quad - designed by Alfred Waterhouse.
Há 3 dias · The buildings were designed by the renowned Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse R.A in red pressed brick and had dressings of Bolton Wood stone in a Gothic Collegiate style. The cost of the build was £22,000 and was raised partially by public appeal and served as the university library until the opening of the Brotherton Library.
