Piero the Unfortunate. Piero di Lorenzo de' Medici (15 February 1472 – 28 December 1503), [1] : 7 called Piero the Fatuous or Piero the Unfortunate, was the lord of Florence from 1492 until his exile in 1494. 28 de dez. de 2017 · Piero the Unfortunate was the eldest son of Lorenzo the Magnificent and the leader of Florence from 1492 to 1494. He died in 1503, drowning in the Garigliano river as he tried to escape from a French invasion. He was a feeble and ill-disciplined leader who caused the Medici family to be exiled from Florence and led to the rise of his brother, Giovanni, as Pope Leo X.
