Zoé, the Love of His Life. Wilfrid Laurier met Zoé Lafontaine while studying and living at the home of Dr. Gauthier in Montréal. She was a boarder and gave piano lessons to the doctor’s children to help her family financially.
Lady Zoé Laurier, née Lafontaine, (1841-1921), wife of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, Prime Minister of Canada, was a founding member of the Women's Canadian Historical Society of Ottawa in 1898.
Wilfrid Laurier married Zoé Lafontaine in Montreal on May 13, 1868. She was the daughter of G.N.R. Lafontaine and his first wife, Zoé Tessier known as Zoé Lavigne.
