30 de nov. de 2020 · Peter Lely (1618–1680), the Dutch-born artist once described by art critic Jonathan Jones as a 'Baroque bad boy', earned his fame and fortune as the principal painter to the English royals. He became court painter to Charles I in the 1640s, before serving Oliver Cromwell (very famously painting him 'warts and all'), and finally Charles II after the Restoration of the monarchy in 1660.
