Caius Boat Club. Founded in 1827, we are the rowing club of Gonville and Caius College, University of Cambridge and the largest sports team in Caius. We hold strong positions in both the Lent and May Bumps across both the men’s and women’s sides, and regularly have Caians representing the University in The Boat Races. Learn more

Edmund Gonville and John Caius were the two founders of Gonville & Caius, and the College owes its character to the far-sightedness and individual contributions of both. Gonville, Rector of Terrington St Clement in Norfolk, first founded the College as Gonville Hall in 1348, dedicating it to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The arms were officially granted in 1575. Caius has an unusually high concentration of philosophy fellows, undergraduates and graduates, making it one of the best colleges at which to study this subject.
