George Saunders (born December 2, 1958) is an American writer of short stories, essays, novellas, children's books, and novels. His writing has appeared in The New Yorker, Harper's, McSweeney's, and GQ. He also contributed a weekly column, "American Psyche", to The Guardian 's weekend magazine between 2006 and 2008.
Mr. Saunders received an MA with an emphasis in creative writing. George Saunders was born December 2, 1958 and raised on the south side of Chicago. Saunders was born in Amarillo, Texas, and grew up in Chicago. He received a B.S. from the Colorado School of Mines in 1981 and an M.F.A. from Syracuse University in 1988.
