John Maxwell Coetzee (Cidade do Cabo, 9 de fevereiro de 1940) é um escritor sul-africano. Recebeu o Nobel de Literatura de 2003, sendo o quarto escritor africano a receber esta honraria e o segundo no seu país (depois de Nadine Gordimer , em 1991).

In 2003, he won the Nobel Prize for Literature. Coetzee was educated at the University of Cape Town (B.A., 1960; M.A., 1963) and the University of Texas (Ph.D., 1969).
