Now a seven-time Olympian and three-time Olympic medalist, Phillip Dutton was born in 1963 in Nyngan, New South Wales, Australia, where he grew up with horses on his family’s sheep and wheat farm. Most of his childhood and teenage years were spent competing at Pony Club rallies and horse trials.

  6. Dutton has been a mainstay on U.S. teams ever since. Dutton has competed in every Olympic Games since 1996, winning team gold with Australia in 1996 and 2000, and as a member of the U.S. team in 2008, 2012, 2016, and 2020. He won individual bronze with Mighty Nice at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
