Henry Wellesley, 1 er baron Cowley (20 janvier 1773 - Paris, 27 avril 1847), est un homme politique britannique, frère d'Arthur Wellesley. Biographie [ modifier | modifier le code ] Diplomate, il est célèbre pour avoir réussi par d'habiles négociations, à faire passer en 1801 l'Est du territoire d' Oudh sous domination anglaise.
Nel 1809, Wellesley divenne inviato Britannico in Spagna, mentre il fratello Mornington era stato fatto Segretario degli Esteri e il fratello Arthur comandante in capo dell'esercito alleato in Spagna. Wellesley remained out of Parliament, though he was intended in April 1809 to be secretary to his brother the marquess’s embassy to Spain. Before Canning broke with the government in September 1809, he offered to send him as envoy to Lisbon, but this—and the honour of being Canning’s second in his duel with Castlereagh—Wellesley declined.

Captain Henry Wellesley, the 6th Duke of Wellington, died during operations at Salerno. He was in charge of 2 troop with orders to attack and take the village of Piegolelle (also seen spelt as Piegolette). This was heavily defended by the Germans firing from the heights called 'The Pimple'. He was awarded a posthumous Mention in Despatches.
