  1. The College has a vibrant scientific community, including the student-driven Caius Natural Sciences Society. The Director of Studies in Biological Sciences is Dr David Summers (Genetics), and the Directors of Studies in Physical Sciences are Prof John Ellis (Physics) and Dr Andrew Bond (Chemistry).

  2. Edmund Gonville and John Caius were the two founders of Gonville & Caius, and the College owes its character to the far-sightedness and individual contributions of both. Gonville, Rector of Terrington St Clement in Norfolk, first founded the College as Gonville Hall in 1348, dedicating it to the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

  3. Visiting Caius. The College is closed to general visitors on weekdays during term. Members and others with business in the College will still be able to access the College via the Porters’ Lodge, but please arrange visits in advance. Prospective applicants for undergraduate and postgraduate study are very welcome to visit the College at any time.

  5. July Open Days (University) The next University Open Days will take place on Thursday 4th and Friday 5th July 2024. These are open days for the entire University, so both Colleges and Departments will be open. We will have a full programme on offer at Caius, so make sure to come and see us!   6. History and Politics is anchored in a first-year paper called ‘Evidence and Argument’ in which Caius Fellows play a central role. ‘History and Modern Languages’ picks up on long-standing interest in early modern and modern European history at the college, including attention to histories of Italy, Germany and France.

  7. Gonville & Caius College Choir is a mixed choir of 24 male and female voices. It is one of the UK’s leading collegiate choirs, with an international reputation for performances of exceptional quality but also for innovative and adventurous recordings.
