The Anemoi were the ancient Greek gods of the four winds--namely Boreas the North-Wind, Zephyrus the West, Notus the South, and Eurus the East. Each of these were associated with a season--Boreas was the cold breath of winter, Zephyrus the god of spring breezes, and Notus the god of summer rain-storms. Their Roman name was Venti.
