Nicholas Julian Zapata Sagan[1] (born September 16, 1970) is an American novelist and screenwriter. He is the author of the science fiction novels Idlewild, Edenborn, and Everfree, and has also written scripts for episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation and Star Trek: Voyager.

Nicholas "Nick" Sagan (born 16 September 1970; age 54) in Boston, Massachusetts, is the son of science fiction author and astronomer Carl Sagan. He dropped out of high school to study film at UCLA, from which he graduated summa cum laude.
