Magnus III of Mecklenburg (July 4, 1509 in Stargard – January 28, 1550 in Bützow) was a member of the House of Mecklenburg who was the first Lutheran administrator of the Prince-Bishopric of Schwerin, nevertheless referred to as Prince-Bishop.

When Herzog Magnus zu Mecklenburg Schwerin was born on 1 January 1441, in Schwerin, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany, his father, Herzog Heinrich IV. zu Mecklenburg, was 24 and his mother, Dorothea von Brandenburg, was 20. He had at least 3 sons and 4 daughters with Sophie of Pomerania Griffins.
He was the second son of Duke Albert II of Mecklenburg and Euphemia Eriksdotter, the daughter of Duke Erik Magnusson of Södermanland and sister of King Magnus IV of Sweden, Magnus VII of Norway. Albert married Richardis of Schwerin , daughter of count Otto of Schwerin.
