On 22 March 1911, a royal proclamation announced that the Durbar would be held in December to commemorate the coronation in Britain a few months earlier of King George V and Queen Mary and allow their proclamation as Emperor and Empress of India.

Coronation Park is a park located at Burari Road near Nirankari Sarovar (Formless Lake) in Delhi, India. It was the venue of the Delhi Durbar of 1877 when Queen Victoria was proclaimed the Empress of India.
14 de jan. de 2024 · Hardinge’s durbar was constructed around three highly visible and novel features: (1) the actual presence of the sovereign, George V, (2) the announcement that the Capital of India would be transferred from Calcutta to Delhi, and (3) the announcement that the generally unpopular partition of Bengal would be reversed.
