Eton College (/ ˈ iː t ən /) is a public school (fee-charging and boarding for secondary school age boys) in Eton, Berkshire, England. It was founded in 1440 by Henry VI under the name Kynge's College of Our Ladye of Eton besyde Windesore , [4] [5] making it the 18th-oldest school in the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference (HMC).

Eton College is in Eton, near Windsor in the English county of Berkshire. It is north of Windsor Castle . The school is one of the original nine English " public schools " as defined by the Public Schools Act 1868 .

It is also the regular weekend residence of the Queen, and is one of the official residences of the whole British Royal Family.
A tour of Eton College is a great way to spend an afternoon. It's an easy walk from Windsor station, and you can combine it with a visit to Windsor Castle. You get to see a slice of British life that is reserved for a privileged few, and the tour guide we had was a delight. She was the mother of two former pupils, and made us feel very welcome.
