I purchased this Watson Bros. .318 Westley Richards from a gun shop in Bradford, Pennsylvania. The rifle is a 98 Mauser, with the receiver and bolt serial numbers both matching.
Was the .425 Westley Richards always destined for obscurity? I've long thought that the combination of features it allows borders on magic. You get .404 Jeffery ballistics in a package that fits in a long action and uses the standard Mauser 98 bolt face and its stripper clips at the marginal cost of a rebated rim.

And how about the 9x57, a great calibre for a German combination or cape gun….Plenty to add…If you were to hunt in the UK, I would take the 318 Westley Richards. Where are you off to in Africa?
