OIMB is a research and education center for marine biology at the University of Oregon. It offers an undergraduate major, Ph.D. and M.S. degrees, and visiting scientist support for students and classes.
Situated on 130 acres of coastal property along Coos Bay, the Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (OIMB) is a vast, living classroom where students in biology, marine biology, general science, and environmental science study marine organisms in their natural habitat.

Internships and Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programs are valuable opportunities to pursue while completing your undergraduate degree. OIMB offers its own internship and REU programs and also maintains a list of outside resources.
Every other summer, OIMB offers a Tropical Marine Biology course in Panama. UO also has a large study abroadprogram with many opportunities for Marine Biology students.

The Oregon Institute of Marine Biology (or OIMB) is the marine station of the University of Oregon. This 100-acre (0.40 km 2) marine station is located in Charleston, Oregon at the mouth of Coos Bay. Currently, OIMB is home to several permanent faculty members and a number of graduate students.

OIMB offers graduate degrees (PhD and MS) in biology for studies with a major focus on marine organisms and their interaction with the environment. Topics of study are based on the expertise and willingness of OIMB faculty to support a graduate student’s scientific investigation for his or her thesis.
