The founding purpose was to digitise the College’s collection of Western medieval manuscripts catalogued by M. R. James in 1901-3. There are currently over 850 manuscripts accessible online. The Digital Library is also expanding to include some modern manuscripts and a selection of printed books.

The Library of Trinity College Dublin (Irish: Leabharlann Choláiste na Tríonóide) serves Trinity College. It is a legal deposit or "copyright library", under which, publishers in Ireland must deposit a copy of all their publications there, without charge. [2]
COVID update. On lockdown in March, the Library accelerated online access to material and increased e-resources. Since June, the Library has reopened all the buildings in phases and has created several new services from scratch.
