The Queen originally received it in 1947 as a wedding present from the Canadian geologist, Dr. John Thorburn Williamson. During her 70 year reign, the Queen wore the brooch numerous times, including her Silver Jubilee.

The central stone of this flower-shaped brooch is considered one of the finest pink diamonds ever discovered. It was presented to The Queen as a wedding present in 1947 by the Canadian geologist and royalist, Dr. John Thorburn Wililamson. The Queen had the stone cut and set into this brooch in 1953.
