Há 20 horas · Sir Thomas More PC (7 February 1478 – 6 July 1535), venerated in the Catholic Church as Saint Thomas More, was an English lawyer, judge, social philosopher, author, statesman, amateur theologian, and noted Renaissance humanist. He also served Henry VIII as Lord High Chancellor of England from October 1529 to May 1532.

He was the sole surviving son of Sir John More, a barrister and later a judge, and his first wife, Agnes. While still a child, St Thomas was sent to St Anthony’s School in Threadneedle Street.

2 de mai. de 2024 · São Thomas More, mártir, patrono dos advogados, Lorde Chanceler da Inglaterra, escritor e filósofo, nasceu em Londres, a 7 de fevereiro de 1477, – o ano seguinte ao da impressão do primeiro livro na Inglaterra, – e morreu decapitado em Tower Hill, a 6 de julho de 1535 por recusar o anglicanismo.
