They were part of the German metal scene to emerge in the early to mid-1980s, and are also considered to be one of the country's so-called "big four" of power metal, along with Grave Digger, Helloween and Rage.
Years active: 1976-1979 (as Granite Hearts ), 1979-2009, 2011-present. Formed in 1976 as Granite Hearts, the band agreed to change it to Running Wild in 1979 - the name was taken from the Judas Priest song with the same name, featured on their 1978 full-length Killing Machine.
Running Wild es considerado uno de los grupos fundadores del estilo europeo de Speed/Power metal de los ochenta y uno de los referentes de la escena heavy metal de Hamburgo junto con Helloween, Gamma Ray, Metalium y Iron Savior.
