The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst ( RMAS or RMA Sandhurst ), commonly known simply as Sandhurst, is one of several military academies of the United Kingdom and is the British Army 's initial officer training centre. It is located in the town of Sandhurst, Berkshire, though its ceremonial entrance is in Camberley, Surrey, southwest of London.

About the Academy | Sandhurst Trust. The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) was formed in 1947. The primary purpose of the establishment was the training of Officer Cadets to become regular commissioned officers in the British Army.
The first officially sanctioned military college was the Royal Military Academy (RMA), Woolwich, established in 1741 by the Royal Artillery. The RMA focused on the rapidly advancing technical skills that artillery officers required, teaching maths and science as well as more military subjects.
As the sign proclaims, when you arrive at the gate, the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst is the home of the British Army Officer. International Cadets. The Academy is enriched by the presence of International cadets with around 90 from some 50 countries training at any one time.
It was the proudest day of their lives for 200 Officer Cadets as they marched onto the parade square in front of that most majestic of Army buildings, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst’s Old College, the latest cohort of future leaders to commission from the spiritual home of the officer corps of the British Army.
