Richard Carl Wesley (born August 1, 1949) is a senior United States circuit judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit . Early life and career. He was born on August 1, 1949, in Canandaigua, Ontario County, New York.
Richard C. Wesley is a Judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. At the time of his appointment in 2003, he was a Judge of the New York Court of Appeals. Judge Wesley received his B.A. degree summa cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany in 1971, and his J.D. degree from Cornell Law School in 1974.
Judge Wesley began his judicial career as a trial court judge. In 1986, he was elected to a 14-year term as a Justice of the Supreme Court in the Seventh Judicial District of New York, which is headquartered in Rochester, New York, and encompasses Livingston County and seven other counties.
Richard C. Wesley is a federal judge on senior status with the United States Court of Appeals for the 2nd Circuit. He first joined the Court in 2003 after being nominated by President George W. Bush , and he assumed senior status on August 1, 2016.
Justice Wesley was elected to the Supreme Court in 1986 and served as the Administrator of the Judicial Hearing Officer Program and as Supervising Judge of the Criminal Courts of the Seventh Judicial District. Justice Wesley was appointed to the Appellate Division, Fourth Department by Governor Cuomo on March 25, 1994.
