Richard Cromwell. Richard Cromwell (4 October 1626 – 12 July 1712) was an English statesman, the second and final Lord Protector of the Commonwealth of England, Scotland and Ireland and the son of the first Lord Protector, Oliver Cromwell . Following his father's death in 1658, Richard became Lord Protector, but he lacked authority.
On his deathbed Oliver may have designated Richard as his successor; Oliver died on Sept. 3, 1658, and Richard was immediately proclaimed lord protector.
Cromwell became ill and died on October 11, 1960, in Hollywood of liver cancer, at the age of 50. He is interred at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana , California. [11]
2 de dez. de 2020 · Despite his best efforts to see his vision realised, Cromwell passed away on 3rd September 1658, leaving an inheritance of a crumbling and unstable British Republic. Richard was immediately informed of his father’s wishes for him to succeed him as Lord Protector.
