Red Sonja is a fictional sword and sorcery comic-book superheroine created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel Comics in 1973, partially inspired by Robert E. Howard's character Red Sonya of Rogatino.

Red Sonja also went to the future on two separate occasions when she possessed Mary Jane Watson and teamed up with Spider-Manin defeating Kulan Gath who had also traveled to the future in one of many attempts to take over modern day Earth.
According to a tale, years later, King Conan of Aquilonia ran into Red Sonja in a tavern in Tarantia, and was taunted into joining her, into another adventure, aboard a small boat on the Khoratas River, overtaking a death barge.
