Golden Eagle Flight was set up at RAF College Cranwell to supervise the flying training of Flight Lieutenant The Prince of Wales – now HM King Charles III. Golden Eagle Flight appears to have lasted from March 1971 until October 1972.

29 de jul. de 2021 · Exercise Golden Eagle. Fact Files. July 29, 2021. On 27 July 1971, during his Royal Air Force training to become a jet pilot, King Charles III (HRH Prince Charles at the time) was introduced to the Vulcan. The pilot training for The Prince of Wales was codenamed ‘Golden Eagle’.

His period of training was codenamed Exercise Golden Eagle’ and his aeroplane as Golden Eagle Two. Two Jet Provosts were held at readiness for use by the Prince during his four-month course.
