Golden Eagle Flight was set up at RAF College Cranwell to supervise the flying training of Flight Lieutenant The Prince of Wales – now HM King Charles III. Golden Eagle Flight appears to have lasted from March 1971 until October 1972.
The badge is depicted on the iron gates at the ceremonial entrance to the Royal Air Force College Cranwell, at the entrance to the Air Forces Memorial in Surrey, and on the Polish War Memorial in London. It was also featured on the reverse of a special series of £2 coins minted in 2018 to mark the centenary of the Royal Air Force.

Royal Air Force Cranwell or more simply RAF Cranwell (ICAO: EGYD) is a Royal Air Force station in Lincolnshire, England, close to the village of Cranwell, near Sleaford. Among other functions, it is home to the Royal Air Force College (RAFC), which trains the RAF's new officers and aircrew.
During World War II, the College was closed and its facilities were used as a flying training school. Reopening after the War, the College absorbed the Royal Air Force Technical College in 1966. The Royal Air Force College is based at RAF Cranwell near Sleaford in Lincolnshire, and is sometimes titled as the Royal Air Force College Cranwell.
