1 de jun. de 2018 · 1980 saw perhaps the ultimate 924 debut in the form of the 924 Carrera GT - a wide-bodied, intercooled-turbocharged homologation model aimed at competition use.
The real boost in performance the 924 needed was achieved with the release of the 924 Turbo, also known as the 931, in late 1979. Compression was reduced slightly from the 924 to handle the boost, and a new head was implemented with better flow characteristics. Boost levels were moderate, 8-10psi.

For comparison, the normally aspirated motor pumped out 123bhp at 5800rpm and 121lb-ft at 3500rpm. Instead of the four-speed Audi 088 gearbox, Porsche fitted the 924 Turbo with a specially developed Getrag G31/01 five-speed unit.

The 924 Carrera GT is generated as a homologation special for motorsport. Thanks to an intercooler, a larger turbocharger, and increased compression, its four-cylinder turbo develops 40 hp more than the 924 Turbo. With an output of almost 106 hp per liter of displacement it holds the record for road-legal cars of its time.
