Patrick Henry Bruce (March 25, 1881 – November 12, 1936) was an American cubist painter. A descendant of Patrick Henry, Bruce was born in Campbell County, Virginia, the second of four children. His family had once owned a huge plantation, Berry Hill, worked by over 3,000 slaves.

Patrick Henry Bruce (March 25, 1881 – November 12, 1936) was an American cubist painter.
The American painter Patrick Henry Bruce resided in Paris from 1904 to 1936. There he admired the painting of Cézanne and the Cubists and studied under Matisse, in whose home he lived for a time. The colourful style of the Orphic Cubism of Robert and Sonia Delaunay exerted decisive influence on his painting.

Patrick Henry Bruce was born in Long Island, Virginia. After studying in New York under William Merritt Chase (American, 1849 - 1916) and Robert Henri (American, 1865 - 1929), Bruce moved to Paris in 1903, where he remained until 1936.
