Old Prussians, Baltic Prussians or simply Prussians were a Baltic people that inhabited the region of Prussia, on the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea between the Vistula Lagoon to the west and the Curonian Lagoon to the east.
Old Prussian was a West Baltic language belonging to the Baltic branch of the Indo-European languages, which was once spoken by the Old Prussians, the Baltic peoples of the Prussian region. 2 de mar. de 2016 · by Agris Dzenis. No Baltic tribe or tribal group seems to have had a history so dynamic, rich in incident and tragic as the Old Prussians. They died out during conflicts between two medieval European cultures – Christian and pagan – and were physically destroyed or assimilated.
The original Prussians, mainly hunters and cattle breeders, spoke a language belonging to the Baltic group of the Indo-European language family. These early Prussians were related to the Latvians and Lithuanians and lived in tribes in the then heavily forested region between the lower Vistula and Neman rivers.

Old Prussian language, West Baltic language extinct since the 17th century; it was spoken in the former German area of East Prussia (now in Poland and Russia). The poorly attested Yotvingian dialect was closely related to Old Prussian. Old Prussian preserved many archaic Baltic features that do not.
