Mob Quadrangle, the oldest quadrangle in the University, was built in three phases: the Treasury c.1288-91; the north and east ranges and the Sacristy c.1304-11; and the Library on the south and west sides 1373-8.

  7. The present site in Oxford was acquired by Walter de Merton in the mid-1260s. The college was consolidated on this site in 1274. Walter also got permission from the king to extend the initial three houses and parish church of St John south, to the old city wall.
