(Bodley founded the Bodleian Library, one of the oldest libraries in Europe.) The church. Merton is a thriving Oxford College (the first, as it happens) with all the usual institutions.

Mob Quad in Merton College is probably the oldest quadrangle in Oxford. The quad is so old, it actually doesn’t have any chimneys! (they weren’t in widespread use in England then). Merton College was established in the 1260s. In the 1270 construction began for the hall, the chapel, the library and Mob Quad (which accommodates students).
