Maredudd ab Owain (died c. 999) was a 10th-century king in Wales of the High Middle Ages. A member of the House of Dinefwr, his patrimony was the kingdom of Deheubarth comprising the southern realms of Dyfed, Ceredigion, and Brycheiniog.
9 de dez. de 2023 · Maredudd ap Owain (ap Hywel Dda) (died 999) was a King of Gwynedd and of Deheubarth, places in medieval Wales. Maredudd was the grandson of Hywel Dda. His father, Owain ap Hywel Dda, was king of Deheubarth. As Owain grew too old to lead in battle his son Maredudd took his place, and in 986 captured Gwynedd from Cadwallon ab Ieuaf.

When Owain ap Hywel Dda finally died in 988, Maredudd became king of Deheubarth while still holding Gwynedd. In 992 while dividing his time between the two kingdoms, his nephew, Edwin, the eldest son of Einion, ravaged Deheubarth and took hostages. The king hired a band of mercenaries to help free those hostages.
Maredudd ab Owain ab Edwin (died 1072) was a prince of the kingdom of Deheubarth in south west Wales . Maredudd was the son of Owain ab Edwin and was hence the male-line heir of Hywel Dda. The throne had been seized from the previous king of this line - Hywel ab Edwin - by Gruffydd ap Llywelyn, who claimed the throne through his mother, Angharad.
