Field Marshal Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, KG, GCB, GCH, PC, FRS ( né Wesley; 1 May 1769 – 14 September 1852) was a British statesman, soldier, and Tory politician who was one of the leading military and political figures of 19th-century Britain, serving twice as prime minister of the United Kingdom.

Nascido em 1766, estudou em Eton, a escola da nobreza britânica.
Wellington morreu em Walmer Castle em 14 de setembro de 1852, após sofrer um derrame. Após um funeral de estado, ele foi enterrado na Catedral de São Paulo, em Londres, perto do outro herói britânico das Guerras Napoleônicas, o vice-almirante Lord Horatio Nelson.
