Erhebung zum Duke of Wellington (1814) Sir Arthur Wellesley wurde dann am 11. Mai 1814 vom Prinzregenten, in Stellvertretung für den König, zum Duke of Wellington erhoben. Damit war der General nun ein Herzog. Nach der Verbannung von Napoleon auf die Insel Elba wurde der Duke of Wellington zum britischen Botschafter in Frankreich ernannt.
