I cannot imagine the mental and physical agony that Lacey endured over such a horrifying amount of time. If there ever was a hell, Lacey Fletcher endured it to its full and most powerful extent. This case is much deeper than anyone will ever know, and I believe there is a lot of power and money hiding its darkest secrets.

It is still sadism even if they didn't restrain her because empathy and love would soften their hearts to not allow Lacey to suffer and be degraded like that.

Lacey had to have been eating and drinking in order to survive in that’s state for over a decade, and she was emailing her friends from the couch (allegedly) when she was 27. Her parents could’ve written those emails, but at the same time, it’s been alleged that the emails sound a lot like Lacey, specifically regarding her obsession with Disney movies.
I had a mentally ill mother who tried to hobble me so I'd never leave home. At 18 I didn't even know how to boil a pot of water because I was punished for using the kitchen. They stopped taking photos around the time I hit puberty. I can completely see what actions the parents took to put poor Lacey in that position.
And there are people who would beg Lacey Fletcher to forgive her parents for what they did to her. "Your parents were just good Christian folks, they loved you even though they let you rot on the couch for years while you ate your own feces on a bid for survival. Try to forgive them, they meant well. They loved you.".
