John Arthur Lithgow (born 19 October 1945) is an American actor, musician, poet, author, and singer. In 2009, he played Arthur Mitchell, aka The Trinity Killer, in the Showtime series DEXTER. He also appears in the Showtime special event series Dexter: New Blood.
In September 2009, Lithgow joined the cast of Dexter as Arthur Mitchell, a serial killer and Dexter Morgan's nemesis. He won a Golden Globe Award for this role [35] and won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series . [36]
