Eliot was a rather stooped man of a little over 6 feet who had a somewhat prim appearance which mingled with a slight air of anxiety common to persons who are shy. In London, Eliot lived in a comfortable, modern apartment in Chelsea overlooking the Thames. In 1915, he married Miss Vivienne Haigh-Wood, who died in 1947.
