Há 2 dias · Oliver Cromwell died on 3 September 1658, aged 59, from complications of malaria and kidney stone disease. He was a Puritan leader who led the Commonwealth of England after the Civil War and signed Charles I's death warrant. He was hanged, beheaded and his head was thrown on a spike.
Cromwell was on the brink of evacuating his army by sea from Dunbar. However, on 3 September 1650, unexpectedly, Cromwell smashed the main Scottish army at the Battle of Dunbar, killing 4,000 Scottish soldiers, taking another 10,000 prisoner, and then capturing the Scottish capital of Edinburgh.
