Horatio Spafford was a lawyer, a Christian, and a hymn writer who lost his four daughters in a shipwreck in 1873. He wrote the hymn "It Is Well with My Soul" while on a rescue mission in England, where he met Anna, who survived the tragedy. He died of malaria in 1888, but his faith and love for God were tested and rewarded.
