An excavation of the property was conducted in 2021 in hopes of unearthing even more history of Althorp, according to Smithsonian magazine. At first, it was believed that decorated shells discovered in the excavation were 40,000-year-old artifacts.

At the same time the magnificent park that surrounds the House was designed by Capability Brown, ‘England’s greatest gardener.’
