20 de mar. de 2023 · Interestingly, what lies beneath Althorp House provides an even more astonishing account. An excavation of the property was conducted in 2021 in hopes of unearthing even more history of Althorp, according to Smithsonian magazine. At first, it was believed that decorated shells discovered in the excavation were 40,000-year-old artifacts.
2 de jul. de 2019 · The house is open in the summer with specific dates announced on the Althorp website every year. In 2019, the house and estate will be open from July 1 to August 31. Additional Openings - Guided tours of the house are also available during The Althorp Food and Drink Festival, highlighting independent Northamptonshire producers, Saturday, May 11 and Sunday, May 12 in 2019.

Upon arrival at Northampton Train Station visitors can tender a taxi to Althorp for the cost of around £15.00 – £20.00. Taxis from Long Buckby take approximately 10 minutes and will cost £10.00 – £15.00.

Although Althorp House had been a prominent stately home since the late 1600s , it was significantly remodelled in the eighteenth century by Henry Holland, one of history’s most famous architects. At the same time the magnificent park that surrounds the House was designed by Capability Brown, ‘England’s greatest gardener.’

These days Althorp is more than just a house with some pretty lawns, they have all sorts of things to do for visitors. There’s even an Althorp Literary Festival, which is the brain-child of the current Earl.
