Elizabeth Wyckes. Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell, KB ( c. 1520 [1] [3] – 4 July 1551) [4] was an English nobleman. He was the only son of the Tudor statesman Thomas Cromwell, 1st Earl of Essex ( c. 1485 – 1540) and Elizabeth Wyckes (d. 1529).
12 de mai. de 2015 · Gregory, born about 1520, was the only son of Thomas and Elizabeth Cromwell. Gregory’s two legitimate sisters died along with his mother of sweating sickness when Gregory was nine. Thomas Cromwell sought to ensure his son’s well-being and education in the aftermath of his bereavement by sending him to nuns to be cared for.

Thomas Cromwell took great care over the education of his son Gregory. At one time Richard Southwell acted as Gregory Cromwell’s tutor, but by 1528 John Chekyng had taken charge of his studies at Cambridge. Thomas Cromwell's son Gregory Cromwell, 1st Baron Cromwell, married Elizabeth Seymour, the sister of Queen Jane Seymour and widow of Sir Anthony Ughtred. They had five children: Henry Cromwell, 2nd Baron Cromwell; Edward Cromwell; Thomas Cromwell; Katherine Cromwell; Frances Cromwell; Thomas Cromwell had an illegitimate daughter called Jane.
