Canning suggested that the U.S. and Britain make a joint declaration, because both nations had motives for limiting colonialism (besides their own) in the Americas.

23 de abr. de 2024 · Sugar Act Definition. The Sugar Act of 1764 was a British law for raising revenue from the American Colonies by taxing imported sugar, molasses, and other goods. It extended and modified the Molasses Act of 1733, which was difficult to enforce because of the distance between England and the Colonies.

During the 1812 general election, for instance, he is reported to have made 160 speeches in Liverpool. (7) Even so, by including a sampling of Canning's public orations, the editor acknowledged the fact that significant statements and the eloquence of leading statesmen were not confined to the Houses of Parliament.
