This quest can comfortably be completed in a single run. As the player harvests the souls, The Lich King will occasionally whisper to them. The Lich King whispers: Take them, mortal.
Assuming each NPC killed by your raid counts towards the 1000, and assuming the trash before Marrowgar counts as "Lich King's minions"; you will get roughly 55 souls per trash run up to Marrowgar. That means 18 trash runs to finish this quest. At 25 minutes per run that's 6 hours of pure farming to finish this quest.
