In command of a British corps at La Albuera, near Badajoz , Beresford lost one-fourth of his men while defeating the French marshal Nicolas-Jean de Dieu Soult, Duke de Dalmatie.

It is a listed building and the oldest one still in use in the town. Our establishment is a restaurant and pub with an excellent reputation for serving traditional homemade British dishes.

There will be a six-figure investment in the pub to transform the venue with brand new refurbishments on the inside and in the garden, with work set to last nearly a full month before the pub reopens on May 11.
