Born on 10 June 1909 in in Ootacamund in the then Madras Presidency to Rustom Patel and Allamai, Mary Clubwala Jadhav was schooled in Madras and married Nogi Clubwala at the age of 18. They had a son, Khusro, in 1930. Nogi Clubwala died due to an illness in 1935. He died during a trip overseas, leaving Jadhav in a city she did not know.
