Gray, Peter. Wellesley (Wesley), Arthur (1769–1852), 1st duke of Wellington , soldier and politician, was born 1 May 1769 at Mornington House, 6 Merrion Street, Dublin, the third surviving son of Garret Wesley (qv) (1735–81), 1st earl of Mornington, and his wife, Anne (née Hill; 1742–1831), daughter of 1st Viscount Dungannon (qv).
Catherine Sarah Dorothea Wellesley, Duchess of Wellington (1773-1831) was the daughter of Edward Pakenham 2nd Baron Longford of Tullynally Castle and his wife Catherine Rowley. She was one of ten children and more commonly referred to as Kitty.
